Daniel 1:1-21 menggambarkan pentingnya memiliki iman yang teguh di tengah masa-masa sulit yang dihadapi oleh umat Tuhan, dengan tantangan yang datang kepada iman mereka. Kajian ini menyoroti dua persoalan; pertama, mengidentifikasi apa saja tantangan terkait integritas kerohanian Daniel dan rekan-rekannya saat mereka berada di Babel, dan bagaimana respon mereka terhadap tantangan itu. Kedua, bagaimana menarik prinsip-prinsip rohani untuk diterapkan dalam kehidupan orang-orang Kristen di era post-modernisme. Melalui kritik naratif sebagai pendekatan hermeneutik terhadap teks Daniel 1:1-21 wawasan Kristiani yang ditemukan dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari orang Kristen saat menghadapi tantangan zaman modern.
